1990 This set consists of 100 cards, all of which are autographed, and features 75 PGA Tour players and 25 Senior Tour players. The set includes some of the greats of the game including Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Payne Stewart, Tom Watson, Greg Norman, Fred Couples, Gary Player, Ben Crenshaw, Lee Trevino, Ray Floyd, Lee Trevino, Hale Irwin, Davis Love, Curtis Strange, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Tom Kite and many more. 1991 This set consists of 285 cards plus a special CC1 card of Commissioner Deane Beman. Before the set was released, Senior Tour player George Lanning passed away leaving 1 unsigned card in the series. As it is not possible to have this card autographed, the set is considered complete at 285 autographed cards including the Beman card. The set includes some of the greats of the game including Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Payne Stewart, Sam Snead, Greg Norman x3, Fred Couples, Tom Watson, Gary Player, Chi Chi Rodriguez x2, John Daly, Lee Trevino x3, Tom Kite, Johnny Miller, Ray Floyd, Hale Irwin, Ben Crenshaw, Nick Price, Davis Love and many more. In addition, this series includes one of the toughest autographed golf cards to find in Gardner Dickinson. We were fortunate enough to meet Mr. Dickenson at the 1995 JC Penny Classic in Palm Harbor, FL when his wife Judy played in the mixed tour event. Mr. Dickenson passed away in 1998. 1992 This set consists of 280 cards plus a special 20 card set of European Tour players for a total of 300 cards. One card remains unsigned in this set due to a player’s refusal to sign the card. The player is Bruce Crampton and a hand written letter from Mr. Crampton stating he does not sign the card is included in lieu of the autographed card. The set includes some of the greats of the game including Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Payne Stewart, Greg Norman, Vijay Singh, Ben Crenshaw x2, Fred Couples x3, Davis Love, Gary Player x2, John Daly x3, Curtis Strange, Nick Faldo, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Jerry Barber, Seve Ballesteros, Lee Trevino x2, Ray Floyd, Hale Irwin x2, David Toms, Tom Lehman, Ian Woosnam, Colin Montgomerie, Jose Maria Olazabal and many more. Other Notes For the discerning collector, this collection has a very high ratio of blue sharpie signatures as the majority of these were obtained at tournaments in the early 1990’s before the golf autograph boom and the days of players carrying their own rainbow of sharpies. The collection includes a total of 684 autographed trading cards that are broken down as follows: Blue Sharpie: 605 (88.3%) Black Sharpie: 67 (9.8%) Red Sharpie: 2 (.3%) Gold/White Paint: 2 (.3%) (Both are Bruce Crampton cards) Ball Point: 8 (1.2%) (Includes Craig Rudolph, Lloyd Moody, Sam Snead) In addition to the high quantity of blue sharpie signatures, there are no personalized cards in this collection outside of Richard Zokol who has personalized all cards since they were released!! Currently players such as Hale Irwin, Corey Pavin, Bob Eastwood, Jim Gallagher and Scott Verplank rarely autograph trading cards without personalizing them. Alltogeher, this collection offers a truly remarkable group of autographed PGA Tour cards. The signatures are very strong throughout the entire collection (9-10) and putting together a set of this quality is a feat that would not be easily obtainable today. |
